HOW TO LIGHT THE ADDITION - PRELIMINARY THOUGHTS
A schematic of my current ideas for lights. Pictures below further explain the design.

I haven't decided whether the four
overhead lights will be
recessed or not.
I now think to have only two interior wall sconces.
(There will be two or three outdoor sconces: one on the landing outside
the back door, one or two on [either] side of the the sliding door.)
I haven't sorted out yet exactly which light
switches will turn on what outlets/lights - but
have marked in red the most logical places to have wall switches.
The idea of a string of lights on the "proscenium" is still developing.
Current notion is to have the lights hidden behind crown molding. Photos
below will explain more.
Below is the current view of the addition, looking
south from the mudroom/garage door.
The frame for the addition is being filled
in fast.
The bottom of the rafters show where the ceiling will be.

Next we look at the old windows and try to envision the idea of a strip of lights hidden behind a crown molding that would be part of the frame of the cased opening. I don't see these lights running around the entire corridor - just the length of the "proscenium."

Below is a view of the area in front of the opening into the kitchen. One idea is to hang a pendent light from the ceiling here. The other ceiling lights would be simple, small fixtures. I haven't decided whether they should be recessed into the ceiling.

Now we look at the other end of the Addition - the mudroom. (Entrance to the garage on the left; this door is temporary.) It's been recommended that I put two ceiling lights in here - one in front of the garage door, the other half way to the backdoor.
