SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 - After a hiatus of a year, I'll be posting more pictures of the construction project ... that has now been extended into 2021. During the winter of 2019-2020, Thayer Street carpenters completed much of the work on the first-floor interior of the house: including the bathroom and the downstairs corridor. The arrival of COVID in March led to a suspension of work for about six weeks, but by May work was resumed in the cellar (plumbing etc.) and outside. Everyone working on the house over the summer has remained healthy - including old septuagenarian me (though I haven't been inside any kind of store since March - and I had my first haircut in six months a couple of weeks ago). In recent weeks there's been considerable progress on the new addition, and the first pictures I'm posting show some of this work. Over the next month, I hope to fill in some of the gaps in the photographic record (from the fall of 2019 to the summer of 2020) while keeping abreast of developments in the construction of the new extension, which changes access from the garage, extends the dining room/piano room six or seven feet to the east, and creates a corridor leading into the kitchen. |
